Keswick Mkan & Co. Ltd.

London.

Dear Sirs,

I have duly received your favour of the 24th ulto. and noted contents of same. I note that if goods for trans-shipment are kept under Customs Bond, charges will be about 10/- more per shipment, and it will take about 3 days longer. I am informing my clients about this, and have asked them whether they agree to have a case of their shipments opened when trans-shipment is made over London, or whether in that case they prefer to pay the extra charges and have the goods passed under Bond. In the meantime, and until I get instructions otherwise from them, it will be better if tin-lined cases are shipped under Bond as far as possible.

Enclosed I beg to hand you Bill of Lading for :-

Item Description Gross weight Outside measurement
32/36 5 Cases Umbrellas 194 Cwt. 44'-29"-27"

Shipped from here by the s.s. "Saxe". Please get these goods transshipped from there by first steamer either of the P. & O. Line or by the Messageries Maritimes de France to AMOY, via Hongkong. As the P. & O. Line have steamers running once every week, and there is transshipment only in Hongkong, it will, no doubt, be the quickest to ship by their steamers. Please let me know upon receipt of this, or as soon as you have ascertained, the name of the steamer by which the goods will be re-shipped, and when she is leaving, and also whether it will...
